Strengthening messaging, storytelling, and sustainability

You know this work. You know the preparation, judgment, care, and intentionality that go into supervised visitation and safe exchange every day. But knowing the work and explaining it to someone outside the field are different.

Words That Hold is a 12-conversation Learning Lab designed to help supervised visitation and safe exchange (SV&SE) programs communicate their work with greater clarity, confidence, and care. Throughout the course, you will find language for why your work exists, what your program does, why it matters, and what becomes possible because this response is available.

You will also learn how to shape that understanding into stories and messages, communicate with different audiences, make the impact of the work more visible, and build a communications practice your program can realistically sustain.

This is not about becoming a professional communicator or making the work sound bigger than it is. It is about helping other people see and understand the work more fully without losing its complexity, dignity, or purpose.

The Course Journey

The Learning Lab moves through four arcs. Each builds on the one before it:

  1. Name It: Find words for the work you already do.

  2. Tell It: Shape the work into stories, messages, and frames with care.

  3. Share It: Help others understand, value, and invest in the role SV&SE plays in safety after separation.

  4. Sustain It:  Build a communications practice that keeps your story clear, current, and connected to the work.

12 Conversations, 4 Connected Arcs
